CSPC and Transmashholding signed an agreement on development of innovative ENUs for suburban express transportation
OJSC Central Suburban Passenger Company and JSC Transmashholding concluded an agreement on development of innovative EMUs with asynchronous traction motors to be used for suburban passenger express traffic.
The document was signed by CSPC General Director Mr. Mikhail Khromov and Transmashholding’s General Director Mr. Andrey Andreev.
Under the signed agreement, a joint working group will be set up by July 31, 2014 to develop the Specification and Project Feasibility Study; by September 30, 2014, the Draft Specification is to be presented, and by late 2014, a draft supply contract for EMUs is to be prepared.
The future EMU operation will connect Moscow with major cities both within and beyond the metropolitan agglomeration. Application of new high-speed express trains will procure that travel time is reduced and the trip becomes more comfortable.
The development of rolling stock for express traffic purposes will be performed as a part of Transmashholding’s program on the new Russian EMU family formation. The pilot model is Class EG2T suburban EMU, presentation of which was in May, 2014. By the end of 2014, two EG2T rakes are to be produced and sent to certification tests. In terms of technical parameters, the new EMUs are at least at the same level as other products present in the market, and are superior in some characteristics. The modular design and advanced technical solutions allow elaborating various EMU modifications focused on any operator’s tasks – for suburban, trans-regional, regional, and intermodal application. The new EMU family concept provides for EMU modification development for speeds of up to 120 and up to 160 km/h and AC, DC and double system versions.
