The site has started its history since 1935. Production of EMUs started late 80s. Over the factory’s history Demikhovo machine builders have produced more than 8,000 cars. Trains produced by DMZ run all over Russia: from Smolensk to Vladivostok, From Murmansk to Adler and in CIS countries as well. The site produced EMUs for passenger transportation in the course of such global events as: APEC Summit in Vladivostok, Worldwide Summer Universiade in Kazan, Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russian leg of Formula 1.
DMZ has developed and produced 20 types of EMUs, including AERO EMUs connecting Moscow railway stations with airports.
Over the last years the site has developed new competences: overhaul of RA1 and RA2 rail buses, production of wheel sets for metro cars and rail buses and some escalator components.
Before transition to EMU production the site made projectiles for Katyusha rocket launchers, shells for artillery, tanks for warplanes, cars for narrow-gauge railroads and dump cars awarded with the State quality mark. In 1985 the factory was awarded with the Order of Labour Red Banner for its contribution into development of the domestic engineering.
