Metrovagonmash signed a contract for supply of new Class DP-M DMUs

OAO Metrovagonmash (MVM, part of JSC Transmashholding) and OJSC Central Suburban Passenger Company (CSPC) signed a contract for supply of the newest Class DP-M DMUs with a power pack.

Pursuant to the newly signed document, new DMU will be delivered to CSPC by February 15, 2016. MVM undertakes to perform scheduled maintenance on DMU during 30 years following its introduction into service.

DP-M train constitutes an entirely new class of rolling stock in transport engineering industry of Russia. For the first time in Russia, the power pack is installed not under the car but in a separate dedicated traction-module with a pass-through, which is designed and manufactured by Stadler.

DP-M provides for enhanced passenger safety and comfort. Traction motors installed in a separate traction module reduce significantly vibration and noise impact in the train saloon. Each head-car has space for handicapped passengers and is fitted with devices to facilitate their landing and unloading. Head-cars are equipped with integrated WC cabins for passengers with reduced mobility and locomotive crew members. Passenger saloons are provided with CCTV system to monitor the current situation in cars. A state-of-the-art V&A information system for passengers is installed in cars including the scrolling text bar.

In December 2015, Metrovagonmash obtained the conformity certificate, which qualifies the plant to launch serial production of DP-M DMUs.

DMUs and rail-busses are used for passenger service at non-electrified rail track sections.
