BMZ started d-locos deliveries to Russian railways

Bryansk Engineering Plant (BMZ, en entity of Transmashholding) has shipped 25 mainline freight 2TE25КМ to Russian Railways (RZD). The locomotives are destined for three home depots, Bryansk-II, Ershovo (the Saratov Region) and Krasnodar. This batch of diesel locos is the first batch shipped by the plant to Russian Railways this year.

Class 2TE25КМ locomotive is the first Russian diesel locomotive compliant to the newly applied Technical Regulations of the Customs Union. It has 90% of Russian components and systems. As compared to mass-produced diesel locomotives, 2TE25КМ has some advantages.

The most significant ones are its ability to haul heavier trains and lower operating costs. Engine capacity utilization factor has been also increased, as well as the weight on driving axles.

One of locomotive key benefits is ease of maintenance resulting from service accessibility and workability of main subassemblies and components. The design solutions introduced into the locomotive contribute into shorter downtimes for maintenance and repair operations.

Under the contract signed late March, 2016, a total of 100 class 2TE25КМ, 4 class 2TE25А mainline diesel locomotives and 83 TEM18DM shunting locomotives will be delivered to RZD by the end of this year.
