Ivolga has reached the final stage in certification tests

Two train sets of innovative EG2Tv EMU also named Ivolga (the oriole in Russian) manufactured by Tver Carriage Plant Works (TVZ, part of JSC Transmashholding), arrived at the final stage of acceptance and certification testing.

After successful completion of static test sequence, the first Ivolga electric multiple unit train proceeded to dynamic testing on Belorechensk – Maykop high-speed test section of the Northern Caucasus Railway. It will be tested for 14 criteria under full and empty load at various speeds (including speeds in excess of the design speed). Structural tests will be accomplished on the body and bogies, impacts on rail-tracks and turnout switches analyzed, and automatic train operation and soft riding tested.

The second Ivolga EMU returned to TVZ after completion of tests on the Test Loop of Joint Stock Company Railway Research Institute (JSC "VNIIZhT") at Shcherbinka station. Among other things, HVAC and water supply systems were tested as well as fire-response testing on the head car accomplished.

Final test results of both EMUs will be submitted to interdepartmental acceptance commission, and the conformity certificate will be obtained basing on the commission work outcome thus permitting to commence Ivolga operation on public railway tracks.

EG2Tv Ivolga is the first representative of the Russian platform of new-generation EMUs, which incorporated the most advanced technical solutions.

The platform provides for development of numerous EMU modifications for urban, suburban, intermodal traffic at speeds up to 160 km/h, and eventually up to 250 km/h. In its performance, the new EMU is at least equal to foreign products and exceeds them in many respects.

Even now, the recent development attracted interest of the customers from Russia and other countries with 1520 mm gauge railways.
