Transmashholding has finalized 3D technology deployment

Representatives of Transmashholding Engineering Centers has finalized 3D tools deployment during a Technical Committee meetingю.

3D technology complex has been applied by Transmashholding at all stages: in design, engineering and production. Transmashholding is the only company using 3D tools for building passenger and freight rolling stock for railway and urban applications at 1520 gauge. In particular, 3D technologies are deployed for design of advanced Metro cars to be operated in Moscow Metropolitan starting 2017.

To visualize products during their development, to analyze design quality and to present it most realistically, Transmashholding created a tool, unusual for railway manufacturers, 3D center of virtual reality (3D room). A unique interactive format and room size not having analogues in Russia allows for distortionless presentation of products in volume. Customers have an opportunity to virtually view 3D photorealistic models from outside, to travel inside the vehicles being constructed and to see them life-size from the interior.

Deployment of modern 3D technologies enables to significantly accelerate design processes. 3D technologies allow for minimization of potential errors at the design stage, to obtain and to analyze calculation data and experiment results quickly. Not only image data, but also materials, parameters, accuracy of parts layout, welding and fittings are transmitted in a digital format. Physical properties similar to realistic are allocated to parts in the virtual environment. Static, dynamic, mechanic and climatic tests can be performed virtually.

At present creation of common information environment of Transmashholding Group based on Russian software has already been commenced. It is expected that starting next year at all stages of product development: from engineering to finished product manufacturing, information on all produced rolling stock models, design documentation in a digital format including applied components and performed alterations anticipated by designers will be stored in a common database of Transmashholding.
