TVZ has built the first staff coach with seats

The Acceptance Committee has approved a new product of Tverskoy Coach Building Plant (TVZ, part of TMH), which is a double-deck staff coach with seats model 61-4503. It is designated for the passenger transportation with the speed of 160 kph and increased passenger capacity: 54 seats, including 2 for handicaps and accompanying persons. 
The design of the innovative coach is largely based on the return of experience from the production of the double-deck staff coaches with seats well proven in operation and acclaimed by passengers. New technical solutions have been applied aiming specifically at improving the comfort of passengers, including disabled persons. 

In the new staff coach, in addition to the passenger compartments, there is a recreation area with soft furniture and television, compartments for disabled passengers and their accompanying persons, a shower for staff, three WCs, one of which is equipped with a baby changing table, a reserved area for staff, and a compartment with radio-equipment. 

For the first time in the Russian passenger coaches production, a radius door is used in the compartments for the handicaps on wheelchairs that not only provides easier access to the WCs to the disables persons, but also improves the aesthetic look of the space. In the compartment itself, there is a lower sleeping place transformable into a seating position, an upper sleeping place for the accompanying persons, a room for wheelchairs, a seat, a table, sockets, an attendant call-button and an information display changing brightness depending on the level of lighting in the compartment. Moreover, the sight-disabled persons can use it to receive audio information on the current time and occupancy of the WCs. 

The embarking and disembarking of the disabled passengers on the wheelchairs from high and low platforms is carried out by the means of a special lifting device, which is located in the vestibule of the non-braking end of the coach. 

Considering the request of the customer and to improve the passenger comfort, the coaches are equipped with luggage room and a special shop-window for tea and advertisement products, as well as a space for vending machines. 

As all the double-deck coaches with seats (model 61-4492.01, 61-4492.02), the new staff coach is equipped with a climate control system, windows with blackout and sun-blind curtains, seats with foldable tables and footrests, and individual 220 V sockets. In the coach, mobile devices can be connected to the internet (Wi-Fi). All signs, including the seats numbers, are repeated with Braille letters. The messages of service, information or commercial nature are communicated in a scrolling text line on the information display of the coach's compartments, and, if necessary, can be announced through the audio system. In order to monitor the onboard safety, CCTV cameras are installed in the passenger compartments, on staircases, in vestibules, and corridors. 

All non-metallic material applied in the finishing of the coach have dully issued fire-safety and hygiene certificates. The design life of the double-deck passenger staff coach with seats is 40 years. Following the results of the Acceptance Committee, it has been decided to manufacture a prototype batch of model 61-4503 coaches in the quantity of 50 units. Having obtained the Certificate of the Conformity with the technical regulations of the Customs Union on "the Safety of Railway Rolling Stock", the first two coaches of model 61-4503 will complement the double-deck trains with seats operated on the route “Moscow-Voronezh” starting from July 2015. According to the signed contract, their delivery to the Federal Passenger Company will take place already in November 2016.
