The Oktyabrsky Electrical Coaches Maintenance Factory delivered 4 electrical locomotive coaches


OEVRZ, which is part of Transmashholding, delivered 4 battery-electric direct-current locomotives with asynchronous traction drive designated for hauling service trains on the metro’s currentless or non-electrified lines. 

In the course of 2016, the site has produced in total 4 electrical locos for the needs of Saint Petersburg’s Metropolitan Railway. The battery electric locomotive is designated to be operated with service trains. Its carbodyshell has two driver’s cabs, and the shape of the carbodyshell and driver’s cabs is similar to those of 81-714/717 model. Between the driver’s cabs there is a battery section with the electrical batteries, which enable the off-line operation during 7-8 hours (one working shift). 

The possibility to operate with no current in the collector rail allows the electric loco to ship commodities and equipment through the tunnels of the metro during the night slots with the speed of up to 35 kph. 

For the ease of maintenance, a suspended-type crane system with the capacity of fore-and-aft motions under the loco’s roof is installed in the battery section. The e-locos are equipped with off-line recharging station, which allows recharging the traction batteries from the collector rail and the alternative-current power source with 380 V and 50 Hz. There is also a possibility to regenerate the electrical power to the batteries. Among the new equipment units there are permissible hydrogen concentration level control, temperature, voltage, capacity and acid level control; semi-automatic topping-up, and climate control unit in the driver’s cab.
