Bezhitsa Steel Foundry obtained the conformity certificate for new solebars

Bezhitsa Steel Foundry (BSZ) obtained the conformity certificate from the Federal Budgetary Organization "Register of Certification on the Federal Railway Transport" for its new product – freight wagon solebars.

The new reinforced solebar was designed by BSZ engineers in cooperation with the Engineering Center for Rolling Stock in St. Petersburg.

The new model differs from the series-made solebars by improved durability and operating performance. However, its installation dimensions make it fully interchangeable with the series-produced solebar.

Certification tests were performed at Tver Institute for Rail Car Building and confirmed that the newly designed railway component complies with the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union. Consequently, the Register of Certification on the Federal Railway Transport gave the conformity certificate to the plant.

Prior to the certification tests, factory acceptance tests were performed on the solebar to check the compliance with safety regulation in terms of chemical composition, steel macro- and microstructure, and mechanical properties including metal specimen testing in the cryogenic chamber at -60°C. Testing has showed that this casting, which is to carry the major load within the freight bogie assembly stands out for its advanced reliability, higher quality, accurate geometry, and is capable of being operated at low temperatures.

‘EAC’ mark, the Customs Union conformity mark is made on the certified solebar thus permitting its sale in member countries of the Customs Union. The specified lifetime of the new solebar is 32 years.

The conformity certificate is valid for 5 years.
