The pilot batch of mainline diesel locomotives of BMZ increased to 400 units

The Bryansk Engineering Plant (BMZ - forms part of JSC “Transmashholding”) has successfully completed the qualification tests of the mainline diesel locomotive 2TE25KM, after which it has been decided to increase the pilot batch to 400 units. The need to carry out these tests is due to the close validity expiration of the certificate for the production of the pilot batch of 250 units of mainline locomotives.

2TE25KM mainline diesel locomotive has been produced since 2015. The locomotive capable of hauling trains of 6000 tons has demonstrated its positive characteristics in different climatic zones. The machines successfully operate in Privolzhskaya, Moscow and North Caucasus railways. The operation results have been highly evaluated by the drivers as well as by the customer, JSC Russian Railways. In 2017 2TE25KM diesel locomotive received the Russian Railways’ award for the best quality of the rolling stock and complex technical systems.

Transmashholding is the only Russian manufacturer of mainline diesel locomotives. There was no competence on the large-scale production of such locomotives in Russia before 2015. Transmashholding invested about 6 billion roubles in the creation of the new production facilities at BMZ. As a result, a facility on the production of modern and efficient diesel locomotives that conforms to the international standards has been created.
