Transmashholding demonstrated an efficient production system through the example of BMZ

The Bryansk Engineering Plant became a venue for the All-Russian Lean Manufacturing Workshop “Deployment of an efficient production system. Output of the best projects and development of practical skills”.

Top managers of a number of Russian companies such as OOO Aerotema, OOO Mig-Plus, OOO Prommash, AO Valtsovskiy Portlandtsement, Likinskiy Avtobusnyi Zavod and other companies set out to enhancement of efficiency and competiveness.

The meeting format involved discussions, a tour on the plant and practical training.

Since December 2009, Transmashholding implements Lean Tools. During this time, the Company managed to achieve a significant improvement in the product quality, maximize the effective application of enterprise resources, reduce overhead costs and ensure safe working conditions. At all TMH industrial sites, logistic flows are clearly built up, inventories are optimized, and thousands of improving proposals introduced by factory employees are being implemented.

The Bryansk Engineering Plant was chosen as a workshop venue not by chance: currently, the company is developing rapidly and is intent on the essential component of the contemporary manufacturing i.e. introduction of the product life cycle contract.

A good example for the workshop participants was set by model lines built up in the plant for manufacturing diesel locomotives, with the lean tools deployed in full. Using them alone in the shunting locomotive assembly and servicing lines resulted in 30% reduction in the product defect level. Experience obtained at this manufacturing area was expanded to main-line locomotive line, which produced more than 200 2TE25KM diesel locomotives complying with the customer requirements for the advanced rolling stock over the recent two years.
