Metrovagonmash delivers first “Moscow” series train to Baku Metro

A modern train-set for Baku Metropolitan has been sent from Metrovagonmash (part of JSC Transmashholding) to the Azerbaijan capital of Baku.

The contract for deliveries of two five-car 81-765/766 train-sets was signed on February 16, 2018.

OJSC Metrovagonmash has been supplying rolling stock to Baku since 1967. There are 280 metro cars, manufactured by the plant, operating for today. The previous delivery of metro cars to Azerbaijan took place in 2015. New 81-765/766 model cars, known as “Moskva”, which have been manufactured by Mytishchi Machine Works for Moscow Metropolitan since the beginning of 2017, will now operate in Baku as well.

All cars have a through passage and wider doorways, as well as a new door opening/closing light warning system. A number of innovations also distinguish trains. Its design used a new modern asynchronous traction drive, and provides noise and heat insulation of the cars. Air conditioning and ventilation systems are used in the passenger saloons. Trains are equipped with sockets for charging electronic devices, and have special space for bicycles and wheelchairs.

A distinctive color scheme is specifically designed for the Baku metro trains, that are now equipped with an adjusted to local conditions interactive panel.

Each train-set has two head cars and three intermediate motor cars. Estimated wagons service life is 31 years.

The second train-set is expected to be manufactured and delivered to the customer in April of this year.
