TMH Presented its Industrial Cluster Project to the President of Argentina

During the official visit of President Macri to TMH Rolling Stock Service Centre in Mechita, Buenos-Aires Province, TMH Argentina announced the plans to develop and expand Mechita Depo into an industrial cluster.

The President of Argentina Mauricio Macri, the governor of Buenos-Aires Province Maria Eugenia Vidal, Minister for transport of Argentina Guillermo Dietrich, and the President of TMH International Hans Schabert participated in the event.

The project outlines the plans to expand production areas, construct a new building, develop track infrastructure, purchase modern equipment, and attract suppliers and partners to localize in Argentina in the industrial cluster. Up to 1200 local jobs will be created.

The development programme will progress gradually as existing industrial capacities exhaust, eventually enabling TMH Argentina to gather momentum to expand operations to neighbouring Latin American countries.

Mechita Railway Depot boasts over a hundred years of history. The industry crisis caused the depot to first downsize its activity, and then to stop operations completely in 2011. In 2017, TMH Argentina took over Mechita Depot for three years, conducted a reconstruction and resumed operations, having won the tender for passenger cars and locomotives overhaul. In 2019, TMH Argentina confirmed the right to use the site, having won the concession to lease Mechita Depot for 30 years.
