DMZ to Produce Body Frame Subassemblies for Alstom

Demikhovo Engineering Plant (DMZ, part of TMH) shipped its first set of subassemblies that make up bodies of Citadis X05 trams to the Barcelonan subsidiary of Alstom.

The contract for the supply of subassemblies was signed in December 2019. According to it, the plant will ship 5 sets of tram subassemblies withing a year. These subassemblies will be used to finish vehicles for the city of Athens, Greece.

Each of the subassemblies consists of 12 parts of the Citadis X05 body frame, including main platforms, central and end traverses, boxes, and pillars. Altogether, each subassembly set consists of 27 elements. The production is carried out by the staff, certified according to Alstom’s standards.

In September 2019, DMZ’s welding production received a certificate of conformity to the European Union Standard EN 15085 “Certification for Welding of Railway Vehicles and Components (CWRVC)”, which allowed the manufacturer to negotiate a contract with Alstom.

Representatives of Alstom conducted a technical audit for each of the production steps and personally checked each of the parts for quality. Before the parts were turned in to the customer, a first article inspection (FAI) confirmed that all production and certification requirements were met in full.
Fulfilling this contractmandated creation of a brand-new production lineon the premises of the plant andoutfitting it with modernassembly and welding equipment, fixtures, and accessories. The line will use low-carbon steel as its source material.
