TMH refurbished 20 cars for Ekaterinburg Metro

A batch of 20 metro carriages Model 81-714.5/717.5, refurbished and modernized by TMH plant in Saint Petersburg, was shipped to the customer.

The contract for the refurbishment and modernization of 44 metro carriages for Ekaterinburg Metro was signed in July 2019. According to it, all necessary operations will be finished by August 2020.

Currently, twelve of the vehicles are in service, and eight are going through the setup and commissioning procedures. They will join the latter later in February. The refurbishment and modernization extended the rolling stock’s lifecycle by 15 years.

Model 81-714.5/717.5 metro cars were in production since 1988 until their phase-out in 2014. They were shipped to metros of now Russian cities (Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Samara, and Ekaterinburg) as well as cities of the CIS (Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, and Armenia).

These trains develop the speed of 90 km\h. Their head cars accommodate up to 308 people, intermediate cars – up to 330 people. The trains feature collector-type motors, time-proven bogies, fire-resistant electric nodes, alarm systems, and fire suppression systems. Their standard lifecycle is 31 years.
